I recall being introduced to Avon products at a young age. For years, my go-to roll-on deodorant was Avon’s Feelin’ Fresh. Shortly after becoming a frequent customer of my Avon Lady, I decided to sell Avon myself.
Dating myself here, but this was before the world was digitized! I built my business through word of mouth, passing out brochures, sorting customer orders shipped directly to me, hand-delivering orders, and collecting new orders door-to-door.
Although I considered myself successful as an Avon Independent Representative, I eventually gave up my Avon business when I was unexpectedly offered an amazing job at a university. That opportunity helped shape my career in education, so I have no regrets. However, I often wonder, “What if I hadn’t quit Avon?”
Fast forward to today: I have a Doctorate in Education and over 25 years of experience in education. I am grateful for my journey but have always felt a little remorseful about not having something of my own. Welcome back, Avon!
